No matter how much you've heard about Monaco and Monte Carlo, until you visit it you'll never understand how so much wealth can be concentrated into such a small area. In Monte Carlo anything less than a 150 ft yacht qualifies you for food stamps and the yachts seem to be cheaper than the flats on land. An efficiency near the harbor sells for around 1,000,000 Euros, Ferraris are everywhere and mansions can be found everywhere you look to the tops of the mountains down to the shoreline.
We darted off to Nice in the morning and returned to Monaco later on. We strolled down to the harbor and then found our way up to the Casino and had lunch near the park. After that, we hopped on a shuttle over to Monacoville and walked around the alleys and gardens and ate a wonderful margherita pizza and way-too-expensive beer before climbing down to the pier via the cliffside fort-turned outdoor theater.
The cruise ship in port is "The World", a floating condominium where residents live year round and vote on their ports of call. (my dream, B couldn't care less hehe)
